Heartburn is a pain or burning sensation in the chest that is often accompanied by a bitter taste. It occurs when the stomach acids are pushed up to the esophagus, which causes a burning sensation. People find that the symptoms become worse after consuming a large meal or while lying down. 1. Fatty foods

5. Milk
Commonly milk is consumed to relieve and treat heartburn; however, it can also worsen the condition. Whole milk can increase the rate of acid production and trigger heartburn. Some studies have shown that whole milk worsens heartburn because of its high-fat content.

6. Chocolate
Chocolate is another one of the obvious triggers for heartburn. Chocolate contains high-fat properties, serotonin, and caffeine. This helps relax the lower sphincter of the esophagus and helps stomach acids escape into the esophagus track.

7. Citrus juices
Citrus fruits or juices protect you against many conditions. Sadly, they may not be as effective for heartburn. Although you can still consume citrus fruits and juices, you should have them in moderation. Moreover, if the symptoms are unbearable, eliminate them from your diet altogether.

8. Alcohol
Alcohol can also cause heartburn, even if moderately consumed. Alcoholic beverages, especially beer and wine, can increase the rate of acid production.
